Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI)

A non-profit, accredited college, university or system, where total Hispanic student enrollment constitutes a minimum of 25% of the total enrollment, including full-time and part-time students whether at the undergraduate/graduate level, or both.


Associate Members

A non-profit, accredited college, university or system, that has at least 1,000 Hispanic students enrolled or a minimum of 10% of its total enrollment is Hispanic, including full-time and part-time students whether at the undergraduate/graduate level, or both.


International Members

An institution of higher education abroad that documents that it is a legally constituted entity authorized to operate in its country according to the rules and regulations required by its government.

Partner Institution

An accredited, degree-granting institution that is committed to increasing Hispanic success in higher education but does not meet HACU membership eligibility requirements, i.e., does not qualify for Hispanic-Serving Institution, Associate, or International membership.

Faculty and Staff Caucus

The Faculty and Staff Caucus is viewed as an important asset to HACU’s mission to promote Hispanic success in higher education. Faculty and staff at HACU-member and Partner Institutions in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and abroad who are interested in Hispanic issues in higher education, professional development and research proposal development, are encouraged to join.
