WASHINGTON, DC – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Alumni Association (HAA) recently held a social event at Lucky Strike, a bowling alley located in Washington, DC on Saturday, July 28. The event brought together both HACU Alumni and Summer 2007 HACU interns in a casual setting.
“Events like our bowling outing are a great way to build community for HACU alumni and interns. I’m glad we were able to organize it and look forward to coordinating future activities that help strengthen ties among our current and future members,” said Susie Saavedra, Chairperson of the HACU Alumni Association.
The event was well attended, including the participation of several HAA Board Members, and about a dozen interns. Among the interns in attendance were several whom are pursuing permanent positions in the area. This event created a great forum for alumni to mentor those interns, and provide feedback based on their own experiences in transitioning from an internship to moving to the area.
The HACU Alumni Association (HAA), which is made up of beneficiaries of HACU’s student programs that include HACU Scholarship Program, Student Ambassador Program and the nationally acclaimed HACU National Internship Program (HNIP), continues to grow in both numbers and importance. The Chair of the HAA is now a voting member of the HACU Governing Board, ensuring that the interests of the HAA are incorporated into HACU’s long-term strategic goals.
