Devon Brown (center) is hired by EPA.
The transition for Devon started with HACU offering him a rewarding summer internship with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. There he gained valuable experience and networked with several peers and government officials. Since Devon was a senior his goal was to look for a full time position while working as an intern during the summer. After checking on several different websites in Texas and around the nation, and also through HACU's mass mailer of special events, job openings, and group messages, Devon saw an entry-level position with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Since his time as an intern was coming to a close Devon had to take advantage of this opportunity. He attended one of HACU's workshop, "How To Get A Job in the Federal Government" and used these tips on his resume and interview. A couple of days after his interview, Devon was offered the position. Though he had concerns with making this move so fast, he knew this opportunity would open up many more doors and put him in an area where he could advance.
Quote from Devon Brown: I would recommend anybody to take advantage of HACU's internship, it could change your life. It positively changed mine! I hope this will motivate others to take advantage of HACU's valuable internship. You can't put a price on this experience! I am still communicating with several of my intern friends.
