NSF Summer Scholar Geriel Ettienne-Modeste successfully completed all the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland- Baltimore County.
Dr. Geriel Ettienne-Modeste, an HACU- sponsored intern under the mentorship of Dr. Gary Gabriele, former Division Director, Engineering Education and Centers, was a member of the SSIP Class of 2005, and holds the distinction of being the first SSIP participant to receive the PhD in engineering.
Currently, Geriel is an Assistant Professor in Residence for Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut in search of a post-doc position for next year. NSF is proud of Geriel's outstanding achievement, and wishes her continued success as she perseveres to attain significant life-long goals and become a leader in the STEM enterprise.
