OPPORTUNITIES:

HACU Alumni Ambassador Program:  Do you want to share your internship experience with others?  For more info on how you can help HNIP recruit interns, please click here to learn more about our HACU Alumni Ambassador program and start earning volunteer hours today!

HNIP Mentor Program:  In the near future, HACU hopes to provide opportunities for HNIP alumni to mentor current interns.  As a mentor, you would provide a current intern with information on your experience and what to expect out of the internship.  Some interns may not want a formal mentor, but someone to contact whom they know has been through the experience of culture shock, dealing with roommates, or may just want some advice from time to time on how to handle certain situations.  This process will occur before the start of every summer internship session.  If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please email alumni@hacu.net

Networking Opportunities:  Coordinate networking sessions, social events, and professional development workshops.  If you belong to other professional associations and you have an event that is open to the public, please forward it to us and we'll be happy to share it with current student program participants.  Please e-mail notices to alumni@hacu.net.

Community Service:  Many individuals involved are giving back to the community in many different ways.  If you need more volunteers, we encourage you to reach out to HACU interns and alumni for community service projects!

HNIP Orientation Activities:  Join HACU staff and volunteers in welcoming new interns in D.C.  during orientation.  This two-day event presents interns with information regarding their housing arrangements, the payroll process, as well as professional development workshops and other opportunities.

Listed are a few of the ways you may participate as an alumnus and earn volunteer hours:

  • Be a guest speaker and present a session on a topic you think would be useful for interns
  • Serve as an alumni  panelist and share your experiences as a HACU intern and how HNIP has helped or is helping you to reach your career goals
  • Assist HNIP staff with the logistical details involved with orientation such as greeting interns at the airport upon arrival, meeting interns at their housing site upon arrival, or assisting with registration to ensure that everything runs smoothly at orientation
