Signing up for a HNIP internship was an important decision in my career.  Not only did it solidify my interest in the public sector, but it is also provided me with a glance at Information Technology processes within the workplace.  As a computer science major, the possibilities within my field vary greatly. Additionally, my chosen career path as a software developer was due to my understanding of the computer software development process, acquired through my internship with the U.S. Department of Treasury, FMS.  The people that I worked with were very helpful in providing me with a firm understanding of the organization structure as well as with the individual technologies used by the department.

Moreover, I was able to take part in a beautiful city, that I never imagined visiting or working in- Austin, Texas.  For the first week or so, I was a bit nervous about working and living in a different place away from my family.  However, as the weeks went by, my travel routine to work and my explorations throughout the city made it easy to work as a field intern.  Besides, being in a different city also allowed me to meet new people and experience new cultures. Thanks to the HNIP internship opportunity, my career in software development is in progress and the core values of responsibility and independence were instilled in me.

Meet Andrew Rosales

I was amazed at the support and help I receive from not only the program, but fellow interns, who were in the same position as me.  Full Story >
