I researched internship opportunities online and HNIP was one of the fewest that offered a paid internship in Washington D.C.  I worked for the Department of Treasury in the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the HR Connect Program.

Working for the Department of Treasury has been an incredible experience because I was able to apply the skills and knowledge that I learned in the classroom to actual on-the-job field. I feel as though I have developed professionally, intellectually and personally in Washington D.C.

The major benefits I gained from HNIP were receiving credits for my university, meeting prominent and influential leaders, networking with people who are in the same field of study you are in. However, the biggest benefit was that I was able to develop a strong sense of confidence and how to interact professionally and intellectually with colleagues and co-workers.  I recommend doing an internship to any individual that wants to experience, be-exposed, and take chances out in the real world. It’s really a life changing and altering experience that you will gain from doing an internship at HNIP.

Internships give a first-hand exposure to what employers are looking for. While, having a degree at a higher education is excellent, it’s even more beneficial if you have additional experience in the workforce. More doors will open up for you.

Meet Sylmar Santos Corujo

When I evaluate myself in this internship, I have to say I have grown personally. Now I know I can’t judge people because of their history or what others say about them. To be honest, I couldn’t have finished my internship if it weren’t for them. Full Story >
