Having HACU arrange travel and housing really takes a large burden off of the intern. Housing is especially great since the apartments are furnished and relatively close to the employing agency. I know the staff at HACU really works hard to make this possible and address any issues or concerns that any of the interns may have.
The most obvious positive aspect is the experience of being in a new city, which is mostly the case. A field internship affords an intern the experience that no internship at home can, a new environment, new people, new freedoms, and a great sense on independence.
Many things get done when one establishes good relationships with others. As a HACU alumn and current HACU intern, I’ve learned that through cooperation, and not being afraid to ask for help, good things happen.
As a D.C. intern the activities planned were great, being that there was so much to see and do in Washington, D.C.. I really enjoyed the picnic that HACU arranged for us for orientation in Summer 2004.
